WATCH: The “Please Clap” Problem Persists – 7.23.24
Why are politicians always begging for applause?
If they are so desperate for pity laughs they should really invest in the big laugh signs that light up.
Before we get into the most recent examples of this problem, let’s rewind a bit.
The most famous example:
In 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush asked a less than enthusiastic group of voters in New Hampshire to “please clap.”
You would think that other politicians would have learned from Jeb’s mistake.
Remember when Joe was frustrated by a lack of applause and decided to insult the men and women in uniform?
But the please clap viral moment has made a comeback in the last week.
Yesterday, Vice President Kamala Harris opened her presidential campaign by pulling a Jeb.
Not to be outdone, Sen. Chuck Schumer kicked the cringe level up a notch today when announcing his support for Kamala.
There is clearly no enthusiasm for the Democrats last-minute swap.
The Democrats should ditch having voters at these events and fill the room with their lapdogs in the media.
They would have no issue getting the Kamala cheerleaders in the MSM to clap for their hero.
ALSO ON MY MIND TODAY:
Did you see Biden’s statement regarding the news that Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle has resigned?
READ:
Jill and I are grateful to Director Kim Cheatle for her decades of public service. She has selflessly dedicated and risked her life to protect our nation throughout her career in the United States Secret Service. We especially thank her for answering the call to lead the Secret Service during our Administration and we are grateful for her service to our family.
As a leader, it takes honor, courage, and incredible integrity to take full responsibility for an organization tasked with one of the most challenging jobs in public service.
The independent review to get to the bottom of what happened on July 13 continues, and I look forward to assessing its conclusions. We all know what happened that day can never happen again. As we move forward, I wish Kim all the best, and I will plan to appoint a new Director soon.
