NH Teacher Praised Death of Charlie Kirk
A Timberlane Regional High School English teacher is facing backlash after a social media post in which he said he was “glad” about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Ed Tinney, who is listed in Timberlane High School’s staff directory as an English teacher, wrote in a Facebook post that circulated Thursday that America has never been a “civil society” and ended the message by saying, “And, yeah, I’m glad he’s dead.”
The post also criticized what Tinney described as systemic discrimination in America, citing poverty, race, gender, and sexuality. “Citizens are killed every day because they’re poor, they’re Black, they’re homeless,” Tinney wrote, before noting he had been fired in a past job “for being gay.”

Not surprisingly, his remarks drew immediate reaction online, with some commenters supporting his perspective and others condemning it as inappropriate for a teacher. It’s disturbing to think that someone like this is influencing the impressionable minds of children. That should scare every parent.
Tinney’s comments come amid heightened political tensions following Kirk’s assassination earlier this week. Conservatives have argued that incidents of political violence disproportionately target figures on the right, pointing to recent attacks on Republican leaders.
Since his pathetic post, Tinney has been placed on paid leave. In a statement released Friday, Timberlane School Administrative Unit 106 said the employee “has been removed with pay in accordance with New Hampshire law” while the district investigates.
“The Timberlane Regional School District has been made aware of a social media post allegedly made by a member of our high school staff regarding the recent shooting and death of a public figure. We are investigating the circumstances regarding that post,” Superintendent Justin Krieger and School Board Chair Katie Knutsen wrote.
They added that the district “does not support political violence in any form” and emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
Tinney’s post sparked outrage from parents and community members, with critics arguing his comments were unacceptable for someone in a teaching position. In my humble opinion, Tinney should never be allowed to step foot in a classroom again.
Based on all of the disturbing comments people have made since Charlie Kirk’s assassination, there will be many more people fired from their jobs for their public comments about an innocent man, husband, father and great American being assassinated.
