Dems can’t stomach Trump’s appeal
They have so lost their moorings that even ancient political traditions have been corrupted.
So now state-run media are concerned about Donald Trump’s “cognitive decline?”
Excuse me, but aren’t these alarms being sounded by the same Democrat hacks who until approximately the day before yesterday were slobbering over Dementia Joe Biden’s brilliance:
“Sharp as a tack.”
“On top of his game.”
“This version of Biden is the best version of Biden.”
“Sharper than ever… fit and trim.”
In the Oval Office, The New York Times gushed, Biden engaged with his aides in “Socratic dialogues.”
Then came the debate against Donald Trump on June 27. The next morning that same New York Times demanded that Biden drop out. They handed Dementia Joe the hemlock a lot faster than the Athenians did to the original Socrates.
But now, the same crowd that lied and lied and lied about Biden’s brain is… telling you the truth about Donald Trump’s. You can trust them, they’re not like the others. Pinky promise.
The Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are losing their minds. Another new talking point is Trump’s “fascism,” as in this New York Times front-page headline from last week:
“Democrats Lose Fear of Calling Trump a Fascist.”
Huh? As if they’re ever been afraid of calling him a fascist.
As The Wall Street Journal noted, “Mr. Trump’s worst attempt at stretching executive power – reallocating construction money to build the border wall – was small beer compared with Mr. Biden’s lawless $400 billion student loan forgiveness.”
Not to mention, in effect repealing all immigration laws, funneling billions to the Iranian terrorists, not to mention leaking Israeli military plans to the mullahs in Tehran, telling the Russians that a “minor incursion” into Ukraine was okay….
Not so long ago, the Democrats would have worried about getting called out for their hypocrisy and double standards. But no longer. Almost all media tows the party line, parroting whatever the Ministry of Truth decrees. The Democrats are no longer a political party, they are a cult.
In Florida the other day, Gov. Ron DeSantis was asked by one of their cheerleaders if he would ever mention climate change.
“I don’t subscribe to your religion,” DeSantis told the alleged reporter. Perfect.
James Carville, who turns 80 on Friday, yesterday predicted that if Trump wins, Democrats could be going to “jail,” if not “swinging from the end of a rope.”
Really? You mean the Republicans will be acting the way the Democrat party of Robert Byrd did for more than a century?
Again, the same Democrat hacks spewing this nonsense about fascism have been trying to send Trump to prison, on kangaroo-court charges. They tried to kick him off the ballot. He’s survived two assassination attempts.
And Democrats now fret that they’re going to be strung up?
They have so lost their moorings that even ancient political traditions have been corrupted. Consider Trump’s visit to the McDonald’s in Bucks County on Sunday – perhaps the greatest “stunt” ever in American politics.
Since Trump moved on, state-run media have become, to use one of their favorite words about Trump, unhinged.
Did you know, for example, that his visit to McDonald’s was a “staged” event? Do you understand, he’s not really on the McDonald’s payroll?
The Democrat press, who can’t be bothered checking whether Kamala Harris ever worked at McDonald’s or owned a Glock, is suddenly poring over obscure local records to see if any health inspectors have ever reported a sanitary violation by Mr. Ronald McDonald.
Back in 1990, I took part in a “stunt” with William Weld, then a candidate for governor of Masachusetts. We went down to J.J. Foley’s in the South End one night and each threw $200 down on the bar to buy rounds of draft beer for whoever showed up.
It was designed for the late local TV news, back when people still watched local TV news. It was a good hit.
The only reason I mention that long-ago stunt is that the next day, no Democrats/media swarmed J.J.’s looking to shut them down. Of course, the mayor then as now was a Democrat, and more importantly, he spent more evenings at Foley’s than either Weld or me.
But even Foley’s is no longer immune to stunt pushbacks by Democrats. On Monday, the anti-Question 5 crowd (which is to say, servers who get tips) held a press conference… at Foley’s.
Outside, the blow-in hippies who want to destroy restaurants and barrooms once they’ve finished wrecking everything else, gathered outside for a counter-demonstration on East Berkeley Street.
That same night, Kamala Harris held a “town hall” in Michigan. Except that there was no input from the crowd, only “pre-determined” questions, as moderator Maria Shriver put it.
Wait, aren’t “town halls” supposed to be about taking questions from, you know, people in the hall.
Again, I have some experience with town halls. In October 2016, I was the moderator for a Donald Trump event in Sandown, NH. It was on a Thursday night, basically a rehearsal for the big one that was held in St. Louis the next Sunday night against Hillary Clinton.
Chris Christie, who had proven himself quite adept at these kinds of events in the NH primary, flew into Manchester with his then-pal Trump. Krispy Kreme was there to critique it, live.
Most of the cable networks carried our event. We didn’t know it, but it was the night before the release of the “Access Hollywood” tape that was supposed to take Trump out once and for all. Obviously, it didn’t work out that way.
Anyway, the packed crowd at the Sandown Town Hall was given paper and pens, and told to write down their questions for the candidate. There were hundreds of them.
Backstage, Corey Lewandowski and I went through them, to make sure that they were of general interest. Believe me, we weren’t editing them to protect Trump. He could, and can, take a punch. Obviously.
You know, I liked town halls better back when citizens were actually permitted to ask candidates a question.
Also, come to think of it, staged events were more fun when you didn’t have to worry about the Deep State coming in the next morning and trying to get your business canceled on social media, if not totally shut down for health-code violations if you hosted the wrong candidate.
The way things are going, it’s almost like… fascism. You know, a threat to democracy.
