Any energy ‘savings’ from Healey will end up costing MA taxpayers
In other words, her five-percent solution was just to grab a feel-good headline or two in Democrat-controlled media. Another shocker? NOT!
For years, I have written about Gov. Maura Healey blocking the construction of more natural gas pipelines in Massachusetts that would increase our supplies and reduce costs.
As attorney general, one of her first acts was to commission a study by a greeny organization that predictably downplayed the need for more capacity, despite 33 other studies, including one by Gov. Deval Patrick, that all concluded the Commonwealth had a major problem.
Now the chickens have finally come home to roost with exorbitant bills hitting rate payers. It was the most predictable, most easily-prevented disaster ever.
Trying to avoid responsibility, Healey now throws the gas companies under the bus, blaming them for the higher prices. I know that you are shocked that our Governor would lie when she has been soooo truthful about, say, conducting criminal background checks on the illegals being housed in hotels.
Continuing her effort to mislead voters less than two years before the next election, Healey has now ordered the companies to reduce their gas bills by a whopping five percent!
Five percent — it is a bad joke. The news gets worse. It turns out you will not be getting one penny of savings. The utility companies are getting to “spread the pain out over the course of the year.” In other words, her five-percent solution was just to grab a feel-good headline or two in Democrat-controlled media. Another shocker? NOT!
Healey has followed up on her bill-reduction order with a promise to file “energy affordability and independence” legislation soon. Independence? When I hear the word independence mentioned in regard to energy policy, I think of President Trump’s plan for energy independence, by allowing our nation to drill baby drill again.
So will Healey’s plan include drilling in Cape Cod Bay or the Gulf of Weymouth? Of course not.
My best guess is that Maura is going to claim that building wind turbines will allow us to somehow achieve energy independence. If you have been paying attention to the Vineyard Wind saga, you know that not only have the turbines caused an environmental disaster, but they are going to raise utility costs.
Brace for impact. Healey’s legislation will be more green stuff that costs you more green.
Healey, who is now trying to add new taxes on our cable bills, cannot be trusted to do anything other than waste still more money and cause working American citizens more headaches.
