Canton Police Audit Drops on Opening Day of Trial
CBS News released a story on the audit of the Canton police and it included some VERY interesting observations.
Kristina Rex: The report observed that first responding officers should have photographed O’Keefe’s body at the crime scene in its original location before it was taken by ambulance. It also observed that all interviews of critical witnesses, including Jennifer McCabe, should have taken place at Canton Police headquarters and been recorded when a recording was consented to.
The report also found that Massachusetts State Police and Canton Police should have maintained a presence at 34 Fairview Road until a secondary search hours after the 911 call could be conducted.
Jury Selection Begins
The staggering amount of the 90-plus jurors who have heard of the case indicates the typical 2 week process of jury selection could take a lot longer.
Of the roughly 90 candidates in the first group, nearly 80 of them raised their hand to indicate they had at least heard of the case, about 40 indicated they had already formed an opinion on the case, and nearly half of those agreed they had formed a “bias. – Flint McColgan (Boston Herald)
Witness List Drama
Attorney Mark Bederow (on Read’s legal team) is already highlighting some fishy behavior happening in the retrial regarding the witness list.
