Taylor’s Takes: Wu’d better watch it at Boston’s “No Kings” rally

If you haven’t seen them by now, chances are you’re still living in fear of Covid and don’t dare to leave the house.

I’m talking about the “No Kings” protests that have been taking place semi-regularly in city parks and busy intersections for the past several months.

The protests, if you can even call them that, are among the most pathetic sights one can behold in their lifetime. The attendees are almost always septuagenarian women, some of whom have dragged their brow-beaten husbands along. Scattered among the aged demonstrators are usually a handful of heavy, purple-haired young women. Even fewer are the number of similarly aged men, either extremely corpulent or emaciated. There is no in-between.

The occasional protest in my neck of the woods spans about two hours, with those gathered holding makeshift signs with hardly legible messaging expressing their ill-conceived displeasure with the Trump administration.

These demonstrations started soon after Elon Musk got DOGE into full swing, gutting USAID and other government agencies laden with fat. But after Musk’s time as a temporary government appointee expired, the childless cat ladies turned their ire solely on Trump.

Upon first witnessing the local “No Kings” rally, I was filled with a Kamala Harris-like joy. I laughed. I trolled. I laughed some more.

But as time marched on and the old ladies and beta males kept showing up every few Saturdays, my joy turned into sorrow. Not directed at myself or the state of our nation, but at the protestors.

How sad is it that this is how they’re spending their time? What change do they think will come from their standouts?

The saddest sight of all is yet to come, however. The granddaddy of all “No Kings” protest events is scheduled for Saturday, October 18. Boston’s is being held on the Common, with Mayor Michelle Wu being featured as the keynote speaker.

While it has been sorrowful to see the mostly grey-haired ladies shouting obscenities at drivers in the local town square, I fear that with recent events the Boston protest may be a bit more active than the demonstrations of the same name leading up to it.

Over the weekend, pro-Hamas terrorist sympathizers burned a Boston Police Department vehicle.

Several days later, more keffiyeh-clad antagonists clashed with police, injuring several officers.

These protests were part of a “Week of Rage,” centered around the war in Gaza. They were anonymously organized and well-coordinated, according to ground reports.

The “Week of Rage” wasn’t as well-promoted, though, as the upcoming “No Kings” event. Expect thousands of people, mostly college-aged, getting riled up by incendiary speeches.

I won’t be watching live, but I’m sure I’ll be reviewing the highlights on Sunday. I’ll be paying special attention to what Michelle Wu has to say.

It’s quite hypocritical of Wu to be speaking at the upcoming protest. After the attacks on Boston Police this week, Wu half-heartedly condemned the violence, but only just enough to meet what’s expected of the mayor of America’s “safest major city.” Yet she deems it fitting to potentially further enrage the already heated Trump-haters in and around Boston on October 18.

Given her previous comments about ICE agents and President Trump, I would warn Wu that she could very well be inciting a… what’s the word? Oh, yes. Insurrection.

In the recent past, Wu has compared Trump to a dictator, saying, “we don’t take orders from tyrants not in 1775 or 2025.”

She has referred to ICE agents as “secret police,” comparing them to the Gestapo in Nazi Germany.

Wu also compared ICE’s practice of wearing masks for fear of being doxed to NSC-131, a neo-Nazi group.

So if Wu makes any of these comparisons or calls Trump and his supporters fascists, or anything similar, and violence breaks out in downtown Boston as a direct result of this “No Kings” rally, she should be duly charged with inciting a riot.

Why not?

They tried to do it to Trump after J6, right?
