Taylor’s Takes: Swalwell either jaded or joyful at Platner’s demise

It’s hard to know if Eric Swalwell was fuming during the Graham Platner scandals or cheering him on.

Earlier this year, Swalwell’s campaign for Governor of California was derailed after multiple women stepped forward to accuse him of sexual assault, coupled with other deviant behaviors. The incidents in question were Cosby-esque in nature and forced the Congressman to suspend his campaign and resign from Congress. He’ll likely remain out of politics forever.

But to have been on the sidelines and watching Graham Platner continue his campaign, enduring scandal after breaking scandal, must have been excruciating for Swalwell. Or exhilarating.

The first few scandals were likely of little to no consequence to the California Congressman. As a matter of fact, they were of little or no consequence to the entirety of the Democrat Party, as the rumblings of reprehensible Reddit remarks only seemed to elevate Platner’s political profile.

The Nazi tattoo on Platner’s chest wouldn’t have been of much concern to Swalwell, either. Though it should have been the final straw for so many, we all know that it wasn’t. Democrats either believed, or forced themselves into having to believe, that Platner really didn’t know his tattoo was of a symbol used by Nazis who oversaw the extermination of 8 million Jews during World War II.

By the way, who the hell gets a random tattoo (that is so dissimilar from the standard skull and crossbones of Jolly Roger fame) without first inquiring about its meaning?

More Reddit posts surfaced. Again, Swalwell and many others took no notice or at least heeded no warnings of Platner’s deviancy.

But in May of this year, I’m sure Eric’s ears must have perked up when it was revealed that Platner had been sexting with multiple women, Platner himself being a married man.

“This’ll be it,” Swalwell may have thought. “It’s #MeToo all over again. They came after me. They’ll surely cut him down.”

Didn’t happen. Dems ignored yet another brightly colored red flag and instead harkened to Platner’s lame excuses. He told the press the messages stopped before the campaign began. Blamed it on his PTSD. Everyone’s made questionable decisions. Blah, blah, blah.

Just a week later, The New York Times dropped a bombshell story that would have toppled any candidate in a pre-Trump world. Platner had allegedly been rough with women, shoving them into rooms and locking the doors, verbally abusing them, gaslighting, etc. Typical narcissist behavior.

“They’ve got to take him out now. Nobody could survive this,” Swalwell may have stewed.

Or perhaps the former Congressman’s reaction was more akin to “Hey, all the more reason to like this guy.”

Pervs like these gravitate toward each other, you know. They build online communities and messaging forums like, I dunno, Kik. The app is colloquially known as a “predator’s paradise.”

And yet, even evidence that Platner had an active Kik profile wasn’t enough to end his campaign.

It took a credible accusation of rape to convince Platner that it was time he set aside his brief political ambitions. The woman, Jenny Racicot, will now be forever known as a victim, with the whole world knowing what she says happened to her. All because she had to be brave enough to come forward and end the nonsense that was Platner and his brainwashed Democrat supporters.

At this point, Swalwell is either relieved that he’s not the only victim of his own sordid deeds. Or he’s pissed that someone of his ilk came so close to power, only to be cut down.

Either way, I’m sure the two of them will soon start a club together for fellow dejected degenerates. Or perhaps create an app.
