Taylor’s Takes: Maura wants Minnesota headlines in Massachusetts
Maura Healey is taking the actual crisis of crime perpetrated by illegal aliens in Massachusetts and transforming it into a manufactured crisis.
Right now in Massachusetts, there are no crazy anti-ICE headlines.
There aren’t any large-scale protests. There aren’t fevered agitators following agents in vehicles. I haven’t heard of any underground communication groups signaling where and when ICE raids are suspected to take place.
But that’s right now.
That all could change in the near future. And Governor Maura Healey may be setting the stage for such commotion.
In a now viral video clip, Maura Healey told The Daily Beast Podcast that President Donald Trump is gearing up to use ICE to rig the midterm elections.
Speaking on the SAVE Act, Healey said Trump is using fear tactics around Democrats stealing elections to “sow these seeds to provide some justification for him to exercise emergency powers, put troops on the streets, to scare people away [from polling locations].”
The SAVE Act would simply nationalize the requirement for prospective voters to produce valid forms of identification proving their U.S. citizenship when they register to vote. From what I gather, the bill in its current version would not require voters to present some form of standardized voter identification when they show up to cast their ballot.
I have not heard Trump, nor anyone in his administration, suggest that ICE agents or other officials with the Department of Homeland Security be stationed outside of polling locations in sanctuary cities to ward off would-be illegal alien voters.
But Healey would have you believe that he would do just that. In fact, she wants him to do just that.
“I think that it’s important that we talk about it now and that we are training local officials, local law enforcement, and community members on what might happen and what their rights are,” Healey said.
What exactly are we training these people to do, Maura? I’m fairly certain that local officials don’t have any authority over federal law enforcement. The only way I can foresee anyone receiving training in such a situation is on how to interfere with a federal law enforcement operation just enough so that they are protected by the law.
It seems to me that is precisely what took place in Minnesota. Both Alex Pretti and Renee Good were trained agitators, participating in “peaceful protests,” disrupting ICE operations, each wielding their own choice of weapon. They were operating within the confines of the law until they weren’t.
That’s what it seems Maura is hoping for. Rile up the people now so that they’re prepared to cross the line when the time comes. She has laid out a possible scenario for any Massachusetts liberals who want to take up the cause of running blocker for illegal alien rapists, murderers, fraudsters, and the like. Now all that she has to do is delegitimize those looking to enforce the law so that the professional agitators feel completely justified in breaking the law and feel like they’re defending the law at the same time.
Oh wait. She did.
“ICE is no longer operating as a legitimate law enforcement agency. They’re engaging in things that are totally illegal. Rogue agents. And the worst of it is that our people are put in harm’s way as a result.”
Maura Healey is taking the actual crisis of crime perpetrated by illegal aliens in Massachusetts and transforming it into a manufactured crisis. She saw, as we all did, the weeks-long media swarm in Minnesota during targeted ICE enforcement operations. She bore witness to the darlings created in Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz. And she also saw them crash and burn when they attempted to stand up to scrutiny.
She may have even felt that they caved when they met with Border Czar Tom Homan and agreed to begin handing over criminal illegal aliens already in their custody to the feds.
Maura feels that she’s stronger than Walz and Frey. She wants a chance to show the nation that she will not capitulate to the desire of the Trump administration to enforce long-standing immigration laws. She thinks she can take on the talkiest of talking heads in a one-on-one interview and come out the victor.
And she’s perfectly willing to let the leftist loonies of Massachusetts be the bait that captures that spotlight for her.
It wasn’t all that long ago that she was rumored to challenge Joe Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination for President. With a clean slate and no obvious strong candidate for the Dems in the 2028 campaign, Maura sees her moment.
The good news is that Trump’s ambition to rid America of foreign ne’er-do-wells is infinitely stronger than Healey’s resolve to occupy the Oval Office.
