Need a break from the news? Movie recs from the HC Crew
I know, I know… I’m going to get backlash for this post.
“Grace, there are more important things going on right now!”
And yes– that is 1000 percent true!
But my gosh, we all need to let our brains take a breather sometimes.
So, I rounded up my co-workers and asked them, “When you can’t take the news anymore– what are your go-to movies?”
Here are their answers.
First up, Taylor Cormier.
I don’t need to tell you that we’re hopping in the time machine for these picks.
I mean, Taylor watches Matlock and The Honeymooners on a regular basis.
TC’s Top 5:
- The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
- The Hustler (1961)
- Jaws (1975)
- Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
- The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974)
Next up…Jarred! A self-professed Trekkie, Jarred is the Sci-Fi expert. Let’s see what he watches on his days off.
Jarred’s Top 5:
- The Cincinnati Kid (1965) – slightly edges out all other Steve McQueen movies

- Step Brothers (2008)
Howie Carr is next..will the Captain write in A Civl Action for all 5 spots? Let’s see.
- GoodFellas (1990)
- The Big Shot ( 1942)
- Unforgiven (1992)
- The Man Who Would Be King (1975)
- Hearts of the West (1975)
Good picks Howie! (I’ve only heard of one of them, but I mostly watch reality TV and make up tutorials on YouTube.)
Howie’s right hand man in Florida loves baseball and border collies. But he also loves a good flick.

- Rocky 1 (1976)
- Star Wars Episode 3 (2005)
- The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
- The Terminator (1984)
Okay– now the moment you’ve really all been waiting for…my favorite movies!
Grace’s Top 5:

- The Godfather (1972)
- Pretty Woman (1990)
