Dean Tran’s clown car crashes today

“Mr. Tran,” his attorney wrote in his sentencing memorandum, “is an entrepreneurial spirit… and industrious sort.”

And so farewell, ex-state Sen. Dean Tran, convicted welfare chiseler and income-tax evader, another hack Massachusetts politician who retired due to ill health – the voters got sick of him.

And now, even worse, the judge has likewise gotten sick of him – US District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV, who will be sentencing the kleptomaniac solon this morning in Boston.

The feds want the judge to slap this shifty grifter from Ho Chi Minh City with two years. He wants… a pass, you know, like everything else he’s gotten since he flopped into this country and began stealing everything that wasn’t nailed down with both hands.

Tran is one of the leading lights of what is known as the Kool Aid Kult of the Massachusetts Republican party. This is the crew of greed-crazed knuckleheads who for four years ran the local GOP as a bust-out.

Until 2023, they ran the party as a clown car, nearly bankrupting the GOP and losing every single election for any open seat, usually by historic landslide margins.

During the Kult’s heyday, Tran lost both his state Senate seat (after a scandal involving an elderly constituent, a gun and a subsequent state indictment) and then a race for Congress in which he was crushed by a 2-1 margin, which was still a better showing than the Kult’s hapless candidate for governor, Geoff “Door Dash” Diehl.

“Mr. Tran,” his attorney wrote in his sentencing memorandum, “is an entrepreneurial spirit… and industrious sort.”

Sadly, most of his industry seems to have gone into flim-flams and cons.

“TRAN defrauded the unemployment system and the IRS,” the feds wrote. “He orchestrated a sham employment letter with his sister; he submitted false documents to unemployment officials; and then lied under oath to an unemployment hearings officer.

“When agents confronted TRAN at this residence, he lied to them and then TRAN took the stand at trial and lied to the jury.”

When he was stealing the COVID welfare, Tran was making $90 an hour in the employ of one of the Kult’s fat cats.

“The aggregate balance of his brokerage accounts at ETrade and Fidelity was at least $670,000; he collected rental income from his investment property in Fitchburg; and his daughters had been collecting unemployment benefits.”

He had his daughters on the dole too? Multi-generational welfare? This is what you call assimilation.

Tran’s $90-an-hour job came from Rick Green, the moneyman behind the Kool Aid Kult. Green is another wannabe, a failed candidate for Congress and prominent local never-Trumper. He was with John Kasich in 2016 and Ron DeSantis last year.

In addition to being a welfare cheat, Tran was also not paying full income taxes on his lucrative rental property in Fitchburg.

Eventually in 2021, the state began asking him questions about his income status. Tran went to his older sister, Tuyet Martin, who ran a small Asian food company. He told her to send him an alleged offer of employment, backdate it by several months, and texted her to make sure that they had their “stories straight.”

“The purported salary of $120,000 was about three times the salary of Martin, who was the head of the company as its owner and CEO. Martin never earned more than $45,000 annually.”

Tuyet Martin is now indicted for obstruction of justice and will be tried in the spring. If she goes to prison, what happens to her children?

No problem, says the poster boy for the Kool Aid Kult.

“Mr. Tran is a devoted uncle,” his mouthpiece wrote. “He regularly provides presents and emotional connection to his nieces and nephews. In general, Mr. Tran is the poster child of a family man.”

Unfortunately, it’s a crime family.

“Self-made, he stands on his own two feet, and teaches his children to do the same.”

That’s true. He was on the dole, and the feds say his kids were on the dole. It’s a family tradition.

Tran was scheduled to be sentenced three weeks ago. He and his idiot lawyer basically blew off his court appearance, filing their sentencing memo and showing up for court late.

“I am unhappy,” said the judge that day.

It doesn’t look good for Tran. The Kool Aid Kult hasn’t won anything for a very, very long time. This year, they tried to overthrow the state House minority leader, himself a buffoon, and were crushed, 19-5. Then they tried to recapture the state committee, to finish bankrupting it once and for all. That wasn’t in the cards either.

I mean, Joe Biden has a better chance of mounting a political comeback than the Kool Aid Kult. And now Tran packs his toothbrush for the journey to FMC Devens. At least it’s almost… in the district.

This morning, Tran has two options.

The first one is, he flips. Surely Tran was not the only one in his crooked circle who was running COVID grifts. Let me explain to you how this works in America, Dean:

You trade up.

You rat out other bad actors who you know were involved in criminal conspiracies. Any names come immediately to mind, Senator?

The second option, which I as a taxpayer would prefer, would be for Tran to tell the judge this morning that he is renouncing his US citizenship. Then ask to be immediately deported back to his native land, Vietnam.

That way, we wouldn’t have to support him in prison, and he won’t be able to steal any more welfare money from us here in civilization.

While you’re at it, Dean, why don’t you take your indicted sister back to Ho Chi Minh City with you?

Don’t forget, you have at least $670,000 cash. That money will go a very long way in the Third World. Start-up cash for new scams in the old country.

Dean Tran, you don’t have to go home. But you can’t stay here.
