Coronavirus crowds celebrating Biden are yet more hypocrisy by the left
Democrats are obsessed with telling us what time it is.
According to Time Magazine, it’s “a time to heal.”
The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin tells us, “Joe Biden is right: It is time to move on.”
But perhaps most infuriating was a recent statement from Dr. Anthony Fauci. While speaking at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday, he said, “I was talking with my U.K. colleagues who are saying the U.K. is similar to where we are now, because each of our countries have that independent spirit. I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you’re told.”
But what are we being told, exactly?
At first, experts lectured Americans about the importance of not gathering in large crowds. There was no better example of a “superspeader” event than a Trump rally, according to the chattering classes.
The AP wrote, “Trump rally called ‘dangerous move’ in age of coronavirus.” On CNN, Dr. Jonathan Reiner was so appalled by the Make America Great Again rallies that he actually accused the president of “negligent homicide.”
Fast forward to Nov. 7 — the day these same media outlets declared their candidate had become the president-elect and celebrations broke out in the streets.
And this time, the press didn’t just fail to criticize these non-socially-distant gatherings — they actively fawned over them.
The Washington Post wrote, “Sights and sounds of Biden’s victory: ‘This is beautiful’; See how celebrations unfolded in six cities.”
I, like most sane people, knew the coronavirus hysteria would end shortly after the election. But even so, the left’s lack of subtlety was breathtaking.
One New York Times “news analysis” was titled “Dancing in the Streets, and a Parking Lot, for Joe Biden.” In the piece, the writers glowingly describe Biden’s supporters’ enthusiasm.
“Ms. Litman said she had spent the day walking miles across Brooklyn, sobbing in the street and encountering an intersection dance-a-thon, set to ‘Shout’ by the Isley Brothers, that felt airlifted from a wedding reception.”
Speaking of wedding receptions … whatever happened to those? Oh, right, we were told not to have them.
Maybe corona brides can have our weddings as long as we put a Biden-Harris flag in the reception area, or maybe a Biden autobiography by the cake?
But back to the Biden mosh pits — I mean, the “spontaneous celebrations.”
According to The Gray Lady, the elated revelers danced and clanged spoons. When Democrats show enthusiasm over politics, the press tells us they are proud Americans celebrating decency and democracy.
When Trump supporters express enthusiasm? Well, the press tells us that they are cult followers cheering for racism and sexism and backwardness.
The mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, hates Donald Trump. Therefore, when she yelled into a bullhorn at the jam-packed Biden street celebrations, she wasn’t super spreading anything but unity.
Even MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle asked the “public face of Chicago” about the double standard. Lightfoot replied, “There are times when we actually do need to have relief and come together, and I felt like that was one of those times.”
According to the mayor, the time to celebrate is when Joe Biden wins the presidency. The time to cancel Thanksgiving? Immediately after.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to squash people’s Turkey Day plans, too. In fact, he is giving West Coasters a time limit on their gravy gatherings — keep it under two hours, please.
To be fair to Newsom, he does think there is a time to celebrate.
That time came on Nov. 6, when the governor attended a fancy birthday party with plenty of his friends at The French Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley.
Timing is everything — right, governor?
And then the left wonders why people don’t take them seriously.
Dr. Fauci says he understands our country’s independent spirit, but he doesn’t. This country would be nonexistent if people simply did what they were told.
Somebody tell Fauci to check the time, because I have a feeling his 15 minutes might be up.
