BREAKING: Market Basket Employee Writes BOMBSHELL Letter to Board – 8.8.25

A Market Basket employee is making headlines after sending a letter to the board in which she slammed the company’s recent workplace environment.

Valerie Polito, who has been working for the grocery chain for 35 years, made her opinions very clear as the Market Basket Board vs. Artie T. Demoulas feud continues to escalate.

The Boston Herald reported:

“What was once a culture grounded in mutual respect, integrity, and accountability has, in recent months, devolved into one defined by fear, hostility, and lack of direction,” Polito wrote, adding, “Many have reported that expressing concerns or dissent are increasingly met with intimidation and retaliation. This punitive atmosphere has created a chilling effect where many now fear speaking openly.”

She cited an alleged incident involving Grocery Supervisor Kevin Feole, who apparently told four front-end supervisors: “What are you, (expletive) stupid? Do you want to get fired?”

Feole allegedly said this to the front-end supervisors after they asked for no changes to the districts they were overseeing.

“The situation was further escalated by the fact that (Grocery Supervisor) Steve (Paulenka) was physically holding the office door handle, preventing the supervisors from leaving, which contributed to a hostile and intimidating atmosphere,” Polito wrote.

Another alleged incident involved Paulenka, who was apparently spotted with an open knife on his desk during work hours.

A quick search of Polito and you understand why she is so passionate about the company.

This is only the latest escalation in the unfolding MB drama.
