Gov. Charlie Parker is doing a fantastic job on the panic — just ask him.
“I think those decisions were the right ones,” he was bragging last week. “I knew they were incredibly unpopular and I knew they were enormously difficult but I think they were the right ones.”
But they were the correct decisions, he’s absolutely sure of that. Often wrong, but never in doubt — that’s Charlie Parker for you. He’s “enormously grateful” about the sheeple going along with those “enormously difficult” choices.
Since Gov. Parker always tells us how much he relies on the data, let’s look at the numbers he’s put up on the board.
COVID-19 death rate per 100,000: 119, number four in the nation, behind only New Jersey (171), New York (166) and Connecticut (122). That’s from Statista.
Unemployment rate: 16.3%, number four in the nation, behind only Nevada (25.3%), Hawaii (22.6) and Michigan (21.2). Those stats are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Is Tall Deval proud of these numbers? Seriously? I’d say it’s enormously difficult to make those numbers look like anything other than an absolute calamity for the state.
Now, Tall Deval actually believes what the “folks” and the “experts” tell him. Of course, they didn’t bother to tell him to worry about nursing homes until it was too late — 5,184 of MA’s 7,983 fatalities have been in the facilities his state government was responsible for regulating, or not.
Hey, as long as the greed-head nursing-home operators kept funneling that cash in his direction ($52,000+), he and the rest of the hacks kept looking the other way, and now we’re two weeks past the “grim milestone” of 5,000 dead in Tall Deval’s death houses.
But now the governor feels vindication — according the Democrat stenographers with press passes, cases are “surging” and “spiking” in the red states like Texas and Florida. Almost everyone testing positive is young, of course, and even in Maskachusetts younger people seldom die (134 under the age of 50 so far).
But if CNN says they’re dropping like flies, it must be true. So Parker brought it up Tuesday, at his now-the-mosquitoes-are-going-to-kill-us! press conference.
“We’re acutely aware that uh people who have not respected the virus um on a number of issues since the beginning of this uh pandemic have paid a really terrible price and it’s very hard to put the genie back in the bottle.”
Tell that to the dead veterans at your Holyoke Soldiers Home, Tall Deval.
What states do you suppose he was talking about? Remember, Maskachusetts has a death rate of 119 per 100,000. Is he talking about Texas? The Lone Star State’s death rate is currently 9 per 100,000 — in other words, your chances of dying of the virus in Massachusetts are 13 times higher than in Texas, even after the surging spike.
Then there’s Florida. It too is supposedly suffering from a spiking surge — 17 deaths per 100,000, compared to 119 in MA.
“We all need to continue to do the things that have made a big difference here in the past three or four months.”
You know, like imposing insane policies that put 1,000,000 people out of work, bankrupting thousands of businesses, stopping wedding receptions and funerals and Little League while allowing looting and rioting.
“We should not and we cannot slow down or step back now.”
Slow down? The state’s economy is in shambles. What’s left to slow down? You know, at least the states with even higher unemployment numbers than Maskachusetts at least have the solace of not having any measurable number of deaths from the virus.
Hawaii, for instance — unemployment is 22.6%, but their death rate is 1 per 100,000.
Thanks to Charlie Parker, we’re through the roof on deaths and unemployment both.
And now, after presiding over perhaps the most catastrophic series of decisions any MA governor has ever inflicted on his constituents, he now presumes to lecture us on how to enjoy the summer, as if he’s some kind of health guru:
“The sun is a very important part of um, sort of happiness and and um and and positivity for us.”
You can’t make this stuff up. But as preposterous a fraud as the governor has become, his lieutenant governor is even dumber. Pay-to-Play Polito always seems to be reading from a statement that was just translated from a language other than English. This, from last week:
“Our state is fortunate to have such a rich history of wealth, of science, cultural and artistic institutions and we hope you will enjoy these activities which were months very much a part of our enjoyment.”
Enjoy the enjoyment, if you will, while celebrating our rich history … of wealth.
Tall Deval and Pay to Play have put Maskachusetts in a very deep hole. How difficult is it going to be to dig our way out?
