Lindsay Clancy holdout juror should be named Man of the Year

We should all thank that single brave juror in Plymouth who stood up to the mobs both inside and outside the courthouse Friday when he refused to acquit triple-murderer Lindsay Clancy.

That anonymous juror should be named Man of the Year – key word: man.

We don’t know his name, and let’s hope we never find out, because these dead-enders in pink are capable of just about anything – consider the trans would-be assassin who stalked Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh.

That Democrat was charged under the name Nicholas and now claims to have transitioned into “Sophie.” Is anyone surprised?

But what about Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer, 75-year-old Kevin Reddington?

He should know better than to act as appallingly as he did.

His attempt Friday morning to deep-six 600 years of Anglo-American jurisprudence by throwing the hold-out juror off the panel for Wrong Think was outrageous enough. Even the SJC couldn’t stomach that argument – at least not yet.

Still, you could argue that a lawyer must do everything he can to get his client off, no matter how guilty he or she is.

But Reddington’s performance after the mistrial was declared, spewing venom and contempt in every direction, was beyond the pale. It was total nonsense.

“I’m representing a woman who is a fantastic, wonderful individual,” he said. “This woman is so brave, so awesome. Every day she came in this courthouse and stood tall –“

Stood tall? She’s in a wheelchair, paralyzed after her failed suicide attempt. Talk about a Joe Biden moment. Reddington at least immediately tried to correct his nursing-home faux pas.

“ – no pun intended,” he babbled. “The poor thing is in a wheelchair as we all know for the rest of her life. Just sat there the rough seven weeks of the trial where nobody had anything bad to say about her except for the two prosecutors and apparently Tim Cruz.”

Clancy’s three children, whom she strangled, could not be reached for comment.

Reddington even claimed that Lindsay Clancy was like a daughter to him. So you’d think Gramps would have been a bit more outraged that she’d murdered his three grandchildren in cold blood….

DA Cruz had already spoken to the press, in measured tones, despite the crazed female hecklers in pink.

Cruz had repeatedly mentioned the names of the Clancy children – Cora, Dawson and Callan. But at one point he’d had to look down at his notes to make sure he identified them correctly.

This really bugged Reddington. A guy who was wearing a pink tie to pander to the pink-clad coven was offended by a prosecutor referring to his notes. Reddington continued ranting on about the sainted murderess.

“It’s not right what she had to go through,” he snarled, “because she grieves the loss of her children – Cora, Dawson, Callan. I know their names! I don’t have to look down on a piece of paper!”

By the way, how many times did Kevin Reddington refer to the children his client murdered in cold blood by name during the trial?

According to press accounts, the answer is one, at the start of his closing argument. Once, in a six-week trial. His screed against the DA continued.

“You, Tim, were crushed, as well you should have been.”

If you won, Reddington, why are you so angry? He abruptly shifted back to the anonymous male juror. How dare he thwart the other fabulous, groovy 11 jurors who just wanted to give Lindsay a big wet kiss, not to mention… a second chance?

“They know that they were robbed by one man, whatever his agenda was, who stole seven weeks of the lives of these other jurors, so beautiful, so wonderful.”

As long as they do what Kevin Reddington says, the jurors are the salt of the earth. If they have the temerity to disagree with him, out they must go. He even accused the holdout juror of refusing to “follow the law,” the law apparently being whatever he says it is.

Reddington must be a Democrat.

This was a big case for Reddington as he nears the checkout counter.

His other biggest recent client has been Jen “McTooth” McCabe, queen of the McAlberts. His Brockton office is in the same building with Brian Albert, the sinister ex-Boston cop on whose lawn John O’Keefe’s body was found.

Ending his career as a bit player on the fringes of the McAlbert Gang – not much of a way for Reddington to go out after a half-century in the headlines. This was his big chance for a redemption of sorts.

But that one juror – do you think he ever watched the classic 1957 jury movie, “12 Angry Men?”

Henry Fonda is the one holdout juror against a group of easily malleable men, led by Lee J. Cobb. In the final reel, Henry Fonda persuades his 11 fellow jurors they’re wrong, and justice prevails.

That was the saddest ending to a movie Kevin Reddington ever saw. He was hoping Fonda would be dragged out of the deliberation room, tossed to the angry mob outside and replaced by someone who’d “follow the law.”

Someone in pink.

Shortly after the mistrial was declared, President Trump was asked about the trial. Nobody had to explain it to him.

“It’s on television so much,” he said sadly, “it’s hard not to follow it.”

It used to be that before big trials, everyone would worry about “tainting the jury pool” – with pre-trial publicity. Now, in Massachusetts, the biggest potential taint to any jury pool is the fact that so many of the potential jurors have flat out lost their minds.

Or, as the Babylon Bee put it in a headline shortly after the mistrial was declared:

“State of Massachusetts Declared Incompetent by Reason of Insanity.”
