President Trump had any number of great lines in his CPAC speech Sunday, but this was my favorite:
“Already the Biden administration has proven that they are anti-jobs, anti-family, anti-borders, anti-energy, anti-women and anti-science. In just one month, we have gone from America first to America last.”
If a lot of it sounded like it was lifted from his standard 2020 campaign speech, that’s because a lot of it was. But the themes are already being updated, reworked, to illustrate the undeniable fact that after “the most disastrous first month of any president in modern history,” as 45 put it, the US is already regressing back into an unmanageable, crime-ridden, economic-malaise-suffering Obama-era mess.
The Trump years: those were the good old days! And we have to bring them back, by restoring an honest election process.
“Without honest elections,” Trump said, “who has confidence?”
He’s really paying attention. He mentioned the Democrats’ plan to set up a permanent system of election fraud – HR 1, the “For the People Act.”
You almost have to admire the Democrats’ chutzpah with their names like “For the People Act,” designed to deprive the people of their franchise. How Orwellian is that? Sort of like “the Equality Act,” to strip women and girls of their basic rights, not just to compete on athletic fields, but to have safety in locker rooms, prisons, etc.
He ripped the RINOs, by name, he tore up the absolutely gutless, faithless Supreme Court — “They didn’t have the courage or guts to make the right decision.”
And he dismissed the foolish pipe dream (of Democrats) that he would start a third party. He suggested he might come back and “win for a third time.” That made the Democrats go crazy too.
He led off the speech, as well he should have, with the absolute catastrophe on the southern border with Biden ringing the dinner bell for millions of Third World indigents who will bring with them unprecedented levels of welfare dependency, drug dealing, MS 13 crime, drunken driving, domestic abuse and the return of any number of previously eradicated infectious diseases, many of which make COVID-19 seem like the seasonal virus that it actually is.
He pointed out Joe Biden’s dementia, somewhat gently, reminding everyone that Joe said when he was inaugurated, there were no vaccines – even though he’d already received two inoculations, more than a month before Jan. 20.
He probably wasn’t being malicious, Trump said, shaking his head gently, “He just doesn’t remember.”
I watched the speech with several other Trump supporters. The only time we raised our eyebrows was when he said gasoline prices would soon be rising.
“They’re already up a buck!” we all said together.
“Mr. President,” I yelled to my laptop. “Take one of the Bentleys out tomorrow, drive across the Southern bridge and turn left – or right — onto the Dixie Highway. It was $2.99 a gallon at the Marathon in West Palm Saturday night.”
“I just paid $3.05 for hi-test,” my neighbor said.
I think I see a big issue in the midterm elections. Actually, my texters have been talking about this for weeks. Ask Jimmy Carter how high gas prices worked out for him.
They say the past is prologue. Taking that trip down Memory Lane yesterday in Orlando wasn’t cheap nostalgia, it was an early draft for the 2022 and 2024 campaigns.
It’s not just gas prices that are starting to squeeze these dreadful Democrats. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is one more credible female accuser from getting the boot in Albany. Can you imagine – he was “advising” a 25-year-old woman who’d played middle-school soccer with his daughters in Westchester County to get a tattoo on her rear end.
According to the New York Times, the governor advised the woman, 38 years his junior, that “she should put the tattoo on her buttocks, so people would not see it when she wore a dress.”
Then there’s Gov. Newsom. He’s about to be recalled. Rep. Adam Schiff, the pencil-neck geek from Framingham, is begging Newsom to appoint him state AG, replacing Xavier Becerra, because the stench in DC is so great from his four years of mendacity on the Russian collusion hoax, among many many other things.
Speaking of which, I like Peter Navarro a lot, but I think he’s dreaming when he tells Maria Bartiromo that John Durham is going to indict three of Hillary Clinton’s corrupt coat holders in the attempted Russian frame up.
Meanwhile, Dementia Joe was in Texas Friday, 10 days late and a dollar short. He even forgot how forgetful he is:
“… and Representatives Shir- Shirley Jackson Lee, Al Greene, Sylvia Garcia, Lizzie Penelley, ugh, uh, excuse me, Pannill, and ugh, what am I doing here? I’m gonna lose track here.”
What am I doing here? As Ronald Reagan would say, “There he goes again!”
And calling Sheila Jackson Lee “Shirley?”
Somebody cue up Leslie Nielsen: “Don’t call me Shirley.”
