The Dems don’t know whether to **** or wind their watches lately.
When the referendum passed in Virginia, redistricting was all about fairness and democracy.
There were celebrations over the new 10 Dems to 1 Republican map. This was a big change from the Purple State’s previous 6 Ds -5 Rs map.
But then on Wednesday the champagne celebrations stopped.
The Supreme Court struck down Louisiana’s congressional map.

The U.S. Supreme Court released its 6-3 Louisiana v. Callais opinion, holding that race-based gerrymandering of congressional districts to purportedly comply with § 2 of the Voting Rights Act (“VRA,” 52 U.S.C. § 10301) is not a narrowly tailored compelling governmental interest and therefore unconstitutional. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the opinion, which straightforwardly applied existing statutes and case law. It did not overturn any prior cases. Justice Elena Kagan dissented.
So now the Dems are back to saying redistricting is racial gerrymandering.
