Guess Who Got Bumped from the DNC Last Night…8.20.24

The first night of the DNC was an obligatory farewell to President Joe Biden after Nancy Pelosi & co. pushed him out of the race.

To add insult to injury, Joe didn’t even take the stage until after 11:00 PM EST– long after prime time viewing.

While Joe might be miffed by his time slot, at least he got to keep his.

James Taylor was not so lucky!

OUCH!

James Taylor didn’t make the cut?! It has to hurt John Kerry’s BFF that he got axed from the lineup but Maxine Waters had her moment in the limelight.

The DNC committee put out a hilarious explanation for the scheduling issues:

“Because of the raucous applause interrupting speaker after speaker, we ultimately skipped elements of our program to ensure we could get to President Biden as quickly as possible so that he could speak directly to the American people. We are proud of the electric atmosphere in our convention hall and proud that our convention is showcasing the broad and diverse coalition behind the Harris-Walz ticket throughout the week on and off the stage.”

Yes you read that right. The DNC is trying to tell people that the reason for the delays wasn’t poor scheduling, it was the raucous applause.

Speaking of the “electric atmosphere”, the group think has already begun!

The octogenarian snooze-a-palooza night was electric?

The DNC committee seems pleased with the first night.

They described the programming in a statement on their website.

CHICAGO – “On the first night of the Democratic National Convention, Democrats honored President Biden’s legacy of delivering for the American people. Throughout the night, voices from across the coalition came together to uplift his historic record of accomplishments: lowering costs for the middle class, rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, and defending our democracy at home and abroad – a record that Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz will continue to build on.

Speakers on night one included those who know President Biden best and some of his strongest allies who have been by his side in the fight for the soul of the nation. Senators Raphael Warnock and Chris Coons highlighted the President’s leadership and shared stories of how in public and in private, President Biden never backed down from his vision for a brighter America where everyone has a fair shot. Dr. Jill Biden and Ashley Biden discussed how President Biden has spent every day of his career with an unwavering dedication to the American people and spoke to the most important job of his life, his commitment to his family.

The successes of the Biden-Harris Administration will be front and center throughout all four days of the Democratic National Convention. The Harris-Walz ticket is running with a clear vision to build on those successes, providing a powerful contrast to Donald Trump, who only fights for himself. They know the measure of a leader is not who you beat down, it is who you lift up. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have both spent their lives lifting people up and that is how they will lead this country as the next President and Vice President of the United States.”

Let’s hope night 2 can match the level of excitement Hillary Clinton and AOC brought to the table.

Fingers crossed!
