All The Money…Goes to Mark

Full disclosure– I am not a huge Mark Wahlberg fan to begin with.

With that being said, this news story certainly doesn’t help.

If you haven’t seen the trailers yet, Mark is in a new movie “All the Money”. It is based on the real-life story of the kidnapping of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty’s grandson. And despite my stance on Marky Mark, the movie looks legit. It has received some solid reviews and has even overcome a PR nightmare (having to re-shoot Kevin Spacey’s entire role with Christopher Plummer).

So everything was actually working out pretty well for this movie that could have easily been a huge money pit for the movie studio producing it.

Until today. Because today it was revealed that Michelle Williams, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the film, made 1% of the money that her male costar raked in for the re-shoot.

Yup.

Wahlberg made $1.5 million while Williams pocketed less than $1,000.

If you watched the Globes on Sunday, you may have thought this kind of gross pay disparity was a thing of the past in Tinseltown.

I mean Oprah said it herself… a “new day was on the horizon!”

But alas, it would seem that Hollywood isn’t as on top of this issue as they might lead you to believe. The all-black dress code, #TimesUP pins and holier-than-thou speeches are for our benefit.
